چکیده
The present study concentrates on a series of experiments and numerical analyses for understanding the effects fiber volume fraction ( VF) draw ratio DR) effective elastic properties unidirectional composites made from an epoxy resin matrix with continuous reinforcement. Lyocell-type regenerated cellulose filaments (Ioncell) spun DRs 3, 6, 9 were used. In accordance specimens in situ, fibers modeled as slender solid elements, which between diameter length was taken to be much less than unity deposited inside random sequential adsorption algorithm. embedded element method thereafter used framework due its computational advantages reasonable predictions reinforced composites. Experiments investigations carried out, results compared, positive trends both VFs observed. presented experimental models herein are believed advance state art mechanical characterization

Effective mechanical properties of ‘‘fuzzy fiber’’ composites
In this paperwe investigate themechanical behavior of carbonfiber composites, where the carbonfibers are coated with radially aligned carbon nanotubes. For this purpose we develop a general micromechanics method for fiber composites, where fibers are coated with radially aligned microfibers (‘‘fuzzy fiber’’ composites). The mechanical effective properties are computed with a special extension of...
متن کاملthe effect of silica nanoparticles on the mechanical properties of fiber reinforced composites
background and aim: this study investigated the reinforcing effect of silica nanoparticles when incorporated into the matrix phase of an experimental dental fiber reinforced composites (frc) through the evaluation of the flexural properties of the composites. materials and methods: in this experimental study frc samples were divided into two main groups (containing two or three bundles) either ...
متن کاملPolystyrene cellulose fiber composites: effect of the processing conditions on mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties
The usage of natural fibers on the composites development has grown rapidly in the recent years due to the fibers plentiful availability, renewable source, low density and biodegradability. However, there are some drawbacks, for instance, the fiber dispersion on a polyolefin matrix. In this work, the influence of processing speed on the mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties of polystyren...
متن کاملMechanical Properties of Irregular Fiber (Invited Review Paper)
Irregularities are inherent to virtually all fibers, including the conventional textile fibers, the high-performance brittle fibers and newly developed nano-fibers. These irregularities can fall into two main categories: dimensional or geometrical irregularity (external) and structural irregularity (internal). For natural fibers such as wool, diameter variation along fiber length is atypical ex...
متن کاملEffect of Fiber Surface Treatment on Wear Characteristics of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polyamide 6 Composites
Ozone modification method and air-oxidation were used for the surface treatment of polyacrylonitrile(PAN)-based carbon fiber. The surface characteristics of carbon fibers were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The interfacial properties of carbon fiber reinforced polyamide 6 (CF/PA6) composites were investigated by means of the single fiber pull-out tests. As a result...
